Dog Photography Workshop

Two day workshop in Belgium

19. and 20. August 2023

Ria Putzker

Hi! My name is Ria Putzker, I live in wonderful Vienna and I am 25 years old. I moved into the creative field very early on. My father, who is also a photographer, always helped and supported me on my way. I got a taste for dog photography mainly because of our family dog Phoebe, a sweet dachshund mix lady who has been with me since I was a teenager. I have been a commercial dog photographer since 2017 and I love my work to bits. Getting to know new dogs and people, discovering unknown locations and trying out new perspectives is great fun for me!

I am looking forward to show you my world of dog photography!

About my workshops

The most important thing for me is to inspire my participants to capture new perspectives, have fun and enjoy photography! During the workshop, you receive tons of knowledge about dog photography and a chance to work with me by your side. We will spend time photographing dogs in natural light and I will lead you to approach different shooting conditions. You will learn how I make my photos from using light, working with dogs, composition to giving the photo a magical touch with editing.

Together we create impressive photos that you can be proud of!

Course of the workshop

On the first day we meet for a theoretical part. A presentation explains the basics, camera settings, image composition, dealing with four-legged friends and the use of natural light. Then we continue to a practical part in nature, where we implement what we have learned on experienced and diverse dog models that are available to us. We will do a selection of different dog portraits in the heathlands using the evening light. On the second day we go to take pictures again in the morning, but this time in an urban place - different from the first location making the setting different! Afterwards, we start with the image processing part. I will explain my entire editing workflow in Photoshop from vignettes, changing and choosing colors to creating magical atmospheres. We then edit our photos from the weekend together and I give tips and tricks for the perfect finishing touches.

In addition, you will get:

  • A booklet about dog photography theory (in English or German)
  • A recording of my editing workflow
  • I will give feedback to your photos and will always help you out if you have any more questions!
